On the west side of San Antonio, Texas, in the Westover Hills neighborhood, there is a 250-acre marine mammal park, oceanarium, and animal theme park called SeaWorld San Antonio.

One of the largest marine-life theme parks in the world with a focus on conservation, education, and animal rescue, it is the biggest of the three parks in the SeaWorld group and is owned and run by SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment. It is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and a member of the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums.

The Texas Walk, Cypress Gardens West, Joplin Square, U.S. Map Plaza, and the Garden of Flags were closed when the park was owned by Anheuser-Busch, and the park also welcomed Budweiser Clydesdales.

Originally known as SeaWorld of Texas, the park was created by Harcourt, Brace, and Jovanovich (now Houghton Mifflin Harcourt). It was constructed for $170 million and opened on May 27, 1988, with 75,000 people in attendance. In its first year of operation, it received 3.3 million visitors, ranking it among the top 10 Texas attractions. It was advertised as "the largest educational, marine-life theme park in the world" at the time of its opening.

We heartily recommend the Single Day Ticket or the Single Day with All-Day Dine if you just have one day to spend at SeaWorld. You get access to rides, activities, dining, and shopping when you purchase these wonderful tickets at their fantastic pricing!

Although they are checked when you enter the park, backpacks are permitted. We bring in some crackers and water. "Bottles of water (one per person) and single-serve small snacks (about. 2oz or less) are allowed to be taken into the park." We typically travel in an RV, so we will occasionally get out to make sandwiches.

The total number of rides at SeaWorld San Antonio is 13. They include everything from water slides and roller coasters to kiddie rides and a carousel. The majority of the shows last for about 25 to 30 minutes. To guarantee a seat at peak periods, we advise showing up 30-45 minutes before the start of the performance.
