Natural Bridge Caverns

In the state of Texas, the Natural Bridge Caves are the largest commercial caverns that are known to exist. The 60-foot natural limestone slab bridge that spans the cavern's entrance's amphitheater setting is where the name of the structure comes from. When a sinkhole collapsed beneath it, the bridge remained in midair. The Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, a drive-through wildlife safari park, is right next to the caves, which are situated in the Texas Hill Country close to San Antonio.

Numerous distinctive speleothems and other geological formations can be found in the caverns. The cave's interior is always 21 degrees Celsius, with a constant 99 percent humidity level. Although unexplored portions of the cavern reach depths of 230 feet, the deepest point of the public tour is 180 feet below the surface.

The caverns are still being formed gradually. Rainwater seeps downhill through the rock strata because limestone is porous, dissolving the weak mineral calcite, which makes up all of Natural Bridge Caverns' speleothems.

The largest rooms in the caverns, including one the size of a football field, are featured on the Discovery Tour, which lasts around 75 minutes. The Hidden Passages Tour is a 70-minute journey through complete darkness and stunning illumination.

The caverns are still being formed gradually. Rainwater seeps downhill through the rock strata because limestone is porous, dissolving the weak mineral calcite, which makes up all of Natural Bridge Caverns' speleothems. Water enters the caves after leaving the limestone, where it continuously drips and flows, leaving the formations with a waxy shine that may be observed in a few caverns.

As on the Discovery Tour, where cutting-edge lighting reveals enormous, fantastical shapes created by solitary droplets of water and the slow action of time. Or you can take our Hidden Passages Tour, where every shadow hides a story and shadows dance across delicate patterns. Ascend the Twisted Trails to soar above Texas, or take on one of our Adventure Tours for a true challenge. Our AMAZEn' Ranch Roundup is a 5,000 square foot outdoor maze where you can feel a sense of discovery.

Although unexplored portions of the cavern reach depths of 230 feet, the deepest point of the public tour is 180 feet below the surface. The caves are still slowly forming; they are currently 70°F (21°C) and 99% relatively humid. The damp and steep pathways in caves. Until you have explored the Hidden Passages, you haven't seen all of Natural Bridge Caverns. Tours last roughly 60 minutes and depart every 30 to 1 hour.
