The neighborhood of South Congress, sometimes known as SoCo, is situated on South Congress Avenue in Austin, Texas, in the United States. It is also a well-known commercial and cultural area in the country, recognized for its variety of independent boutiques, eateries, performance spaces, and, more lately, food trucks.

South Congress starts at the Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge over the Colorado River and proceeds southward in the direction of Ben White Boulevard/TX-71. Two storied South Austin communities, Bouldin Creek to the west and Travis Heights to the east, encircle the region.

A popular stretch of fashionable boutiques, trendy accommodation alternatives, and Austin-born restaurants can be found along South Congress. There are numerous live music performances, including regular sets at the storied Continental Club. A picture-postcard view of the Texas State Capitol is also included. The largest urban bat colony in the world takes flight every summer evening from beneath the Congress Avenue Bridge.

Between 1930 and 1960, a lot of South Congress's landmarks had their doors open. In 1938, the Hotel San José and Austin Motel both made their debuts. In 1932, the South Congress hamburger joint that would one day become known as the Night Hawk first opened its doors. The Twin Oaks Shopping Center at the northeastern intersection of Oltorf Road and South Congress was another significant construction project. When it was opened in 1954, it was one among Austin's first "strip" shopping areas. Due to the enlargement of the Congress Avenue Bridge and the creation of Interstate 35, South Austin became even more accessible during the 1950s.
