South Austin

The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, a botanic garden displaying indigenous Texas flora, is one of the many green areas in South Austin, a vast neighborhood of lush residential suburbs. In Mary Moore Searight Metropolitan Park, there are disc golf courses and hiking routes. There are multiple malls in the region, including Southpark Meadows, which has big-box stores and a movie theater. Taquerias, BBQ restaurants, and sushi bars are among the groups of restaurants.

South Austin, a traditional Austin area with a number of unique stores and restaurants and a decidedly bohemian, anything-goes atmosphere, unquestionably "keeps Austin odd." In addition to South Congress (SoCo), South Lamar (SoLa), and Barton Springs Road, it is home to some of Austin's trendiest areas.

South Austin residents assert that they live in the city's cultural center, where Austin's status as the "Live Music Capital of the World" is merited, with the city's landmark South Congress and Zilker Park on their side. From the vast, open green areas of Barton Springs to the hip, up-and-coming SoCo neighborhood, to the diverse, culturally rich urban landscapes around St. Edwards University, to the peaceful, middle-class residential neighborhoods south of Highway 290, South Austin offers it all. Zilker Park, Austin's favorite park and site of the yearly Austin City Limits music festival as well as a well-liked spring-fed swimming pool, is located on the west side of the neighborhood. High-end condos, apartments, and houses from the 1950s to the 1980s are tucked away among the hills and trees. There is a diverse population in the area, including artists, small-business owners, professionals, singles, and families. It is conveniently located near the numerous dining, shopping, and entertainment opportunities to the north. Many of the benefits of west Austin are offered in this area without the high cost.

The South Austin Beer Garden is a Texas beer garden with a rustic motif that serves 60 draft beers, cocktails, and other unusual flavors. We offer a 3000 square foot deck with seating and outdoor activities, as well as an additional outside space with fire pits and live music. Have a pint or two here.

A short distance south of Highway 290 are ethnic communities with more reasonably priced houses that are well-liked by nearby college students attending St. Edwards University and other institutions. The peaceful, middle-class communities with strip malls and eateries that are favored by families, empty-nesters, and seniors are found further south of 290. For singles moving to the area, more and more apartments and duplexes are also being built.
