Formerly a hamlet, Madison is now a part of northeast Nashville in the U.S. state of Tennessee. The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County includes it as a constituent element. When Madison Station was situated about eight miles from downtown Nashville and nearly midway between Nashville and Goodlettsville, the Madison Station post office was established in 1857. Madison served as a connecting suburb during the 20th century until it was absorbed into Nashville in 1963 as a result of the consolidation with Davidson County. Madison directs traffic to downtown Nashville, Goodlettsville, Hendersonville, Gallatin, and Inglewood.
