Chase Field

Chase Field, originally known as Bank One Ballpark, is a stadium in Downtown Phoenix, Arizona, with a retractable roof. The Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball call it home. When the Diamondbacks made their debut as an expansion franchise in 1998, it first opened.

The park was constructed in the 1990s during a surge of brand-new baseball-only facilities. Even though almost all of these parks were outdoors, it was assumed that a big league team in the Phoenix area needed a domed stadium in order to be financially successful. The average high temperature in Phoenix, the hottest major city in North America, is 99.1 °F (37.3 °C) during the regular baseball season, and game-time temperatures far above 100 °F (38 °C) are frequent during the summer.

In addition, Chase Field has a swimming pool in right-center field that, during the 2011 season, can be rented by fans for $3,500 per game in a suite that can accommodate 35 guests. The first player to hit a home run into the pool was Mark Grace.

The first significant sports facility with a retractable roof over actual grass was Chase Field (formerly Bank One Ballpark), hence the location was already cutting edge. The Diamondbacks constructed a pool as another unique element to help launch a brand-new stadium with a new expansion team.

Even though it may be a blistering 100 degrees outside in Phoenix during the summer, you can go inside Chase Field to watch the Arizona Diamondbacks play baseball and even jump in a pool! Chase Field, which opened in 1998, was the first stadium ever constructed with a retractable roof and a grass field. A new stadium was constructed following MLB's announcement that Phoenix would receive an expansion franchise. Construction on the stadium, shaped like a big airport hangar, started on November 16, 1995.
