U.S. National Whitewater Center

Recreational areas with whitewater rafting, rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, and more. Opened to the public in 2006, the National Whitewater Center (USNWC) is a non-profit outdoor recreation and athletic training facility for whitewater rafting, kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, and ice skating. The Center is situated in Charlotte metropolitan area, on roughly 1,300 acres (530 ha) of land next to the Catawba River, with more than 45 miles (72 km) of developed trail.

The facility is furnished with a total of seven Flygt 620 horsepower submersible pumps. Three of the pumps are used to irrigate each channel. Both channels will be watered simultaneously by six pumps. Each pump uses power, which costs roughly $45 per hour. When only one channel is used, an Obermyer Gate with low pressure, air bag actuation separates the top of the Competition or Wilderness Channel from the upper pond, keeping water from entering. Given that both channels have a 6.4 m (21 ft) dip, the Wilderness Channel has a softer slope due to its longer length.

Take your time exploring the 1,300 acres in the U.S. The National Whitewater Center is a nonprofit organization that offers free programs to promote environmental awareness and healthy, active lifestyles. Make a statement! You've been looking for an adrenaline-pumping adventure, and the U.S. National Whitewater Center is it. As you fearlessly float down the official Olympic Training Center for whitewater racing, you'll only see smiles (and perhaps a few surprises).

This complex is jam-packed with exciting outdoor activities that will make all other vacations look dull. Where else can you simultaneously kayak, canoe, rock climb, zip line, ride a mountain bike, go hiking, and use a raft? Charlotte is here to boast that everything is fine.

There are some adjustable plastic bollards attached to the bottom, but the majority of the water diverters are natural stones that have been firmly planted. Five barn door diverters, two above the M-Wave on the long channel and three in the slalom competition channel, are hinged to the channel sides and are moved by hydraulic pistons. In an irrigation channel close to Montrose, Colorado, the M-Wave is intended to look exactly like the well-known M-Wave.

Not everything is open all year round since everything outside is vulnerable to the weather. The water for white rafting may not be available for much of the fall and winter, depending on the temperatures; it usually reopens around March.

There is still a lot to see even if you visit in these months. Nothing compares to a chilly Carolina winter, though! Just remember to keep an eye on the schedule for any updates you might need to be aware of for your upcoming once-in-a-lifetime trip.
