College Park, Georgia

A city called College Park may be found in the Georgian counties of Fulton and Clayton, right next to Atlanta's southern limit. 13,930 people called College Park home as of the 2020 census. It is situated at 33°38′54′′N 84°27′22′′W on the southwestern edge of Fulton and Clayton counties (33.648209, -84.456007). It is a very varied location with a vibrant and safe nightlife. Due to the past presence of Cox College in the region, it was given the moniker City of College Park in 1896. Hugh C. Conley Leisure Center and Wayman & Bessie Brady Recreation Center are the two recreation centers in College Park. The Georgia International Convention Center, which is owned and run by the City of College Park, is situated within the boundaries of the city. The city is also home to the fourth-largest urban historical district listed on the National Register of Historic Places in the state of Georgia (including the domestic terminal, Concourse T, Concourse A, and roughly two-thirds of Concourse B). The city is also home to the Atlanta Dream and College Park Skyhawks' arena, the Gateway Center.

College Park and the neighboring city of East Point have been closely linked to artists and record producers from "SWATS" ("Southwest Atlanta, Too Strong"), who have significantly contributed to the evolution of the southern hip hop genre over the course of the 2000s, despite the fact that the Atlanta hip hop music scene in the 1980s and 1990s was largely credited to artists from nearby suburban Decatur. The City Hall at College Park is located 8 miles (13 km) southwest of the center of Atlanta. In the southern portion of College Park, Interstate 85 briefly connects with Interstate 285 to form the perimeter road encircling Atlanta. Within the boundaries of College Park are exits 60 and 62 of I-285 and exits 69 through 72 of I-85. The domestic terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport's western end is located on the eastern edge of the city.

The establishment of the airport, which is now known as Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, has a significant impact on College Park's history because it sparked multiple significant changes to the municipality's terrain over the 20th century.
